What is Baptism?

“Those who accepted his message were baptized...” — Acts 2:41

  • Baptism is the outward, visible sign of an inward, invisible faith.

  • Baptism is an act of obedience and a public declaration of our relationship with and surrender to Jesus Christ as Lord.

  • Baptism is a beautiful sign of moving from death to life and beginning a new life in the family of God.

  • Baptism is declaring that we are a child of God for the world to see.

  • Baptism affirms our unity in the body of Christ, the Church.

The word "baptize" means to immerse or dip under the water. At Kingdom, we immerse those who are physically able and sprinkle or pour water over those who are unable to be immersed. Holding you under longer doesn’t make you more holy. It is Christ who clothes us with His holiness, and it was by His sacrifice on the cross that we are able to declare our active faith in our spiritual journey with Jesus.

Why Should I Be Baptized?

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” — Matthew 28:19-20

We are to live as Jesus did. Not only did Jesus get baptized, but He also commanded us to be baptized. Those that have called on the name of the Lord are saved. We believe that baptism should be taken very seriously. We also believe that those that have proclaimed “Jesus is Lord” should participate in celebrating their commitment to follow Christ by being baptized. We, as followers of Jesus, are excited to celebrate your spiritual birthday!
